Job Description: General Laborer
Job Summary:
General Laborer is responsible for performing various tasks in different stages of construction to aid daily operations. Their duties include loading and unloading tools or raw materials, setting up and using both manual and power tools and equipment, performing basic carpentry tasks, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment throughout the construction process. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of a laborer are all geared toward maintaining a clean, safe and efficient construction site while also supporting the overall project. The list of duties and responsibilities for a laborer on any given day may include the following:
- Clean and prepare construction sites.
- Load and unload materials and equipment.
- Prepare and set up tools, equipment, and materials needed for each task.
- Operate power tools, machinery and heavy equipment under the guidance of a supervisor, ensuring proper handling and safety protocols.
- Assist in installing & repairing structures, fixtures, & fittings, including doors, windows, cabinets & trim.
- Assist in measuring, cutting, shaping, fitting and assembling wood or other construction materials according to specifications.
- Assist in construction and installation of frameworks, foundations, and structural components.
- Follow blueprints, sketches, and instructions from supervisor, ensuring accuracy and precision in measurements and cuts.
- Maintain and organize tools, equipment, and materials, ensuring they are in good working order and readily available.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members to coordinate tasks and ensure project timelines are met.
- Assist skilled tradespeople in their duties.
Work Specifications:
- Wear common protective or safety equipment including but not limited to safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, or hard hats.
- Outdoors exposed to weather.
- Spend time standing, kneeling, crawling, reaching, entering confined spaces, and climbing.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Preferred)
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
