Position Overview
Fellows typically will have responsibility for teaching one course with support from a faculty
mentor and/or work in the residences. All Fellows help in our extra-curricular program in
either athletics, theatre, or community service and coach or lead activities in addition to
performing support tasks throughout the community. Fellows have the opportunity to live in
campus housing and are assigned a mentor and provided support through our growth program.
Fellows begin their commitment to SEM in August with an orientation program, which focuses
on the school’s mission, philosophy of education, methods of classroom teaching, and the
logistics of the school day and year. Except for winter and spring vacations, the Fellowship is
a full-time commitment until early June. Fellows receive a stipend of $25,000 on a
twelve-month basis, including health insurance, beginning in September.
The Student Belonging Fellow will work to ensure all students feel a sense of belonging at SEM
and will assist with Student Life programming designed to engage, and include all members of
its student population, which is a diverse mixture of day/boarding and international/domestic
students in grades 9-12.

Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with the Associate Head of School to promote student belonging.
- Teach one class or the equivalent to participate in the daily life of the school and
- Attend meetings of the Health and Wellness Team and support the elements of their
- Coordinate student-led programs about issues related to diversity.
- Share weekday and weekend duty responsibilities in student residences within a
- Work with EdCo (a partnership of local private schools) to fulfill Buffalo Seminary’s
- Network with diversity coordinators at other EdCo schools as well as off-campus
- Advise various clubs and organizations including our Student Social Action Group.
- Other duties as required or as assigned by the Associate Head of School.
- Demonstrated experience and experience in working with adolescent girls.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills with individuals at all levels,
- Candidates must possess and maintain a current and valid driver’s license.
