Position Description:
The Instructional Coach (5-12) serves as the primary resource and subject matter expert for faculty, staff, and external representatives on curriculum and instruction. The Coach works collaboratively with faculty and staff to ensure curricular development aligns with the strategic needs of the organization and NYS Learning Guidelines. Responsibilities include advising on lesson planning, lesson development, academic policy, and assessment, as well as coaching and mentoring teachers to ensure high-quality instructional planning, student engagement, and lesson delivery for grades 5-12.

Evaluation:
- The performance of the Curriculum & Instruction Coach will be evaluated annually by the Chief Academic Officer, Chief Talent Officer, and Executive Director (CEO).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Systems Management:
- Support the management and monitoring of all district-wide web-based and software programs relative to 5-12 education
- Act as lead manager in collaboration with other administrators for 5-12 data collection and student data tracking
- Advise the CEO and CAO on the performance of students in grades 5-12 based on assessment data
- Support managing an effective system of data collection, data analysis, and data reporting as required by the State Education Department and district
- Support managing software licenses for instructional resources at the 5-12 grade levels
- Support the implementation of instructional policy and planning
Instructional Coaching:
- Assist the CAO in managing and maintaining the district's instructional vision, practices, and policies through coaching, mentoring, and developing teachers
- Assist the CAO and Principal in supporting classroom management techniques, student engagement techniques, efficiency, and instructional practice
- Coach and model core instructional practices for teachers throughout their first three years in the district, or as needed
- Engage experienced teachers with growth goals for incorporating higher-level instructional practices in the classroom, and provide them with opportunities to share best practices
- Meet with teachers to discuss, summarize, break down, and model core instructional techniques and practices
- Assist the CAO with the implementation of instructional practices and policies
- Model district-wide teaching techniques and strategies when applicable
- Support and work with teachers on the implementation of highly effective teaching and learning techniques
- May assist teachers in growth goals after classroom observations are completed by the principal
- Provide ongoing training and professional development for new teachers
Instructional Leadership:
- Supervise and support the implementation of high-quality instruction within middle and high schools
- Support administrators and teachers at all Buffalo and Rochester schools within the district
- Travel to Buffalo and Rochester area schools as scheduled
- Attend and contribute to building-based academic team meetings when applicable
- Attend and contribute to district-wide academic team meetings when applicable
- Assist with the implementation of the core curriculum as defined on the academics website and the instructional vision for all core NYS Assessment and Regents Courses
- Assist the Chief Academic Officer, Chief Talent Officer, and Principal with professional development planning and professional learning opportunities
- Provide initial training and onboarding in curriculum and instruction at the beginning of the school year and as needed throughout the school year
- Assist in the onboarding process of newly hired teachers
- Assist the Academic Team and CAO with the implementation of district-wide policy
Lesson Planning & Development:
- Supervise and support the planning and delivery of core curriculum lessons throughout all 5-12 classrooms
- Attend check-in meetings for grades 5-12 regarding lesson planning and pacing, reviewing the upcoming scope & sequence, pacing plans, and lesson plans
- Monitor and review lesson plans to ensure curriculum alignment and all lesson planning components are met
- Monitor and review pacing plans to ensure standards alignment, rigorous instruction, and accurate pacing are represented throughout the year
- Contribute to the planning of additional 5-12 curriculum when needed
- Support teachers with the internalization of lesson content when applicable, within the specialization area
Assessments & Data:
- Manage and support the implementation of curriculum-based, diagnostic, proficiency, benchmark, and standardized assessments
- Support managing the district-wide diagnostic assessments and data collection
- Support managing the district-wide benchmark assessments and data collection
- Support managing the district-wide performance & proficiency-based assessments and data collection
- Assist the Principal with assessment data meetings upon scheduled request through CAO
- Support teachers with assessment data internalization and strategic planning as needed
- Support the administration of NYS Grades 5-8 Math, ELA & Science Assessments and Regents exams
Additional Duties:
- Participate in staff and department meetings as assigned

Salary : $50,500 - $70,000
