What are the responsibilities and job description for the MLT / MLS position at Buena Vista Regional Medical Ctr?
Takes an active role in maintenance and procedural deviations in their department and keeps the Lab Manager advised of such situations. Uses proper technique and procedures for collecting, labeling and handling of lab specimens. Performs all tests and procedures as requested under given guidelines. Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on instruments as required. Performs troubleshooting on procedural and mechanical control results. Accurately charts and documents all testing and quality control activities. Plans and organizes daily workload. Demonstrates proper blood collection techniques for age specific populations (infants, children, adolescents, adults and older adults).
Completion of an accredited program for MLT or MLS. Certification by American Society of Clinical Pathologists is preferred but not required. Full-time variable shifts, weekend and holiday rotation.
Must be willing to follow BVRMC Standards of Behavior.
