Overview
Tzu Chi Elementary School is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Mandarin Chinese Teachers for the 2026–27 school year (August 2026 to May 2027). We are building a pool of qualified educators who may be assigned to teach any grade level within TK–6, based on school needs.
As a small, private school rooted in the values of kindness, compassion, and inclusiveness, we offer a supportive learning environment where students develop language skills and cultural understanding through our bilingual program. Candidates must demonstrate native Mandarin fluency and proficiency, including knowledge of Traditional Chinese characters.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Mandarin Chinese lessons for elementary students (TK–6), meeting a range of developmental and language proficiency levels.
- Implement and follow the assigned Mandarin Chinese curriculum (MeiZhou), ensuring instructional alignment, consistency, and fidelity to program expectations.
- Implement immersive language instruction to develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in Chinese.
- Integrate character education and Tzu Chi values and culture into daily instruction, modeling and reinforcing kindness, respect, responsibility, compassion, and mindfulness.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback and differentiated instruction to support individual learning needs.
- Develop and use culturally accurate, inclusive instructional materials that promote understanding of Chinese language, culture, traditions, and values.
- Foster a nurturing, creative, and inclusive classroom environment that supports students’ linguistic, cultural, and social-emotional development.
- Collaborate with English and grade-level teachers to support interdisciplinary and integrated learning experiences when appropriate.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents and guardians regarding student progress, classroom updates, cultural activities, and language learning opportunities.
- Integrate technology and multimodal instructional resources to enhance student engagement and support diverse learning styles.
- Maintain and submit required instructional and student documentation in a timely manner when requested.
- Report directly to the School Principal and work collaboratively with administration and colleagues to support professional growth and school-wide goals.
- Attend and actively participate in school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities as determined by school leadership.
- Participate in lunch and recess supervision, as well as other duties as assigned.
- Check and respond promptly to professional communications from colleagues, families, and administration.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Chinese Language, or a related field (required).
- Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Chinese language teaching (preferred).
- Candidates must have native written and verbal Chinese skills, as well as foundational English skills, including basic reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension abilities.
- Candidates must know traditional Chinese characters.
- 1-3 years experience teaching Chinese in an elementary school setting (required).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and cultural competency.
Salary Range: $43,481.45-$63,682.74 (Annually; based on education degree, credentials, and teaching experience)
