Engineering Supervisor (Sheet Metal Bending)
Position Overview
Are you ready to join a fast-growing company in the high-tech industry to lead our 4-person drafting and design team producing bent sheet metal products? You will train, and review drafting work but also dig in to handle drafting and programming of CNC/Laser equipment yourself. This role requires a strong technical foundation in sheet metal design, proficiency with CAD software, and proven leadership in managing drafting personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Supervision
- Manage and mentor a team of drafters, assigning projects, reviewing work, and ensuring quality standards are met.
- Provide training and professional development to maintain and enhance drafting skills within the department.
- Conduct performance evaluations and implement process improvements to maximize team efficiency.
- Drafting, Design and Programming Oversight
- Oversee and also prepare detailed CAD drawings and models for sheet metal components, assemblies, and enclosures.
- Support the programming of Laser, CNC and bending equipment
- Develop and maintain standards, templates, and best practices.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Act as a primary point of contact for the department in liaison with all facets of the business
- Collaborate with production supervisors to ensure drawings align with sheet metal bending capabilities, tolerances, and material specifications.
- Support sales and customer service teams by providing drawing assistance, technical clarifications, and timely updates.
- Growth Potential
- There is significant growth opportunity including training for expansion into new product development, government regulation compliance, and IT.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in drafting/design, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Proficiency in CAD software (preferably SolidWorks), with emphasis on sheet metal design features.
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal bending processes, tolerances, and fabrication techniques.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and document control procedures a plus.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $83,000.00 per year
