GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Responsible for loading and unloading products from trucks, containers, or railcars trucks. Complete paperwork accurately in a timely manner.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS / DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
- Check trailer and reefer temperature prior to loading (34-38 degrees).
- Inspection of trailer for any pre-existing damage.
- Inspection of product (random temperature checks) to ensure there is no damage to the product.
- Verify case count and & product temperature as it is being loaded and/or staged on the dock.
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
- English skills required, bilingual preferred.
- Mathematical skills and logical thought process required.
- Prioritize orders by appointments.
- Must be able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance.
- Follow directions, interact well with co-workers,
- Understand and follow posted work rules/ procedures.
- Must be flexible with the ability to work any shift as workload demands.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend, stoop, kneel and sit.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and 20 lbs overhead as job demands.
- Will have some exposure to fumes and airborne particles. Time will be spent in a refrigerated (cold) and loud (ear protection required) work environment.
WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to travel to other facilities and offices.
- Ability to work long days including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to relocate.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- Relevant work experience Required
- High School diploma or GED equivalency preferred.
