Pay Rate: $16.31

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This position is responsible for inspecting, reworking, and packing bags/trays of product to achieve daily production standards.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

• Remove bags or trays of salad from conveyor and place into boxes
• Check for foreign objects, accurate bag codes, and expiration dates
• Separate and hold metal detector rejects
• Rework product as required
• Move from one assigned area to another throughout the day as assigned
• Must be able to meet each area standards such as number of bags/trays packed in a determined time
• Any and all other duties assigned by your Supervisor. This may include stacking boxes of salad on skids, printing and applying labels, forming boxes, and maintaining good housekeeping

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

*SKILLS: Must have good communication skills. Must be a self-starter and possess initiative. Must be able to learn new assignments.

*ADDITIONAL: Hands-on ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented food processing environment. Required to work independently and with limited supervision. Must be able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Work is performed in a cool environment with an average temperature of 34 degrees F. Concentrated chlorine and concealed ammonia is present. Work surfaces and floors may be wet. Employees are required to wear approved shoes and protective equipment. Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs. unassisted up to 1/3 of the workday, and 6 lbs overhead as job demands. Constant standing on a concrete floor, reaching, bending, stooping, and repetitive hand movements may be required. Moving machinery, including conveyor and forklifts are in operation in the immediate area.

WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

• First shift - Must have the ability to work overtime; some weekends are required.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

* Previous experience in a food processing facility is desired, but not required. Willing to train. Must have general understanding of plant operations and various departments.
