Bucks County Community College is seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join our IT team. We are looking for a passionate individual to manage and maintain our database systems, ensuring their integrity, availability, and performance. The ideal candidate must have experience working with Student Information Systems (SIS) and database management systems. This role is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and security measures of the College's databases. Keys duties include monitoring and updating malware protection software to combat potential security breaches, creating account data for authorized individuals to access databases, and organizing databases so individuals can find important documents in an efficient manner. Key Responsibilities Storing, extracting, loading, authenticating, and managing data. Setting up cybersecurity measures. Ensuring all hardware and software are updated and monitoring the performance on servers. Configuring databases and preserving data integrity. Identify and resolve database performance issues, such as slow queries, inefficient indexing, or resource contention. Conduct database capacity planning to anticipate future storage and performance needs. Implement and maintain database monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve issues. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of database systems, including schema, configurations, and standard operating procedures. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree, or associate’s degree with relevant experience 5 years of experience supporting databases in a Microsoft Windows environment. Student Information System (SIS) experience required. Strong knowledge of database management systems, such as Microsoft SQL Server, ETL, and MySQL. Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and optimizing database performance. Advanced understanding of how enterprise applications operate in Microsoft environments, including infrastructure dependencies, access controls, and upgrade/patching processes. Excellent documentation habits, attention to detail and time management skills. Ability to work with reporting groups across campus to optimize reports.
