Job Title: Machine Operator
Job Duration: 3 Months Contract – W2 only
Job Location: 1301 N Nappanee St., Elkhart, Indiana 46514 (Onsite)
Note:
Working Hours: 6AM – 4PM; Working Days: Mon-Fri; 100% Onsite
Actual Title Slitter Operator
PPE Notification: Contractor is responsible for wearing their own steel toed boots, other PPE based on the task being performed will be provided to the contractor on site
**Description:
**
**Primary Purpose:
**
The Slitter Operator performsduties to convert wider rolls of paper into narrow ribbons for use in the manufacturing process. The Slitter Operator is responsible for maintaining housekeeping for the area, maintaining all equipment to meet operational standards and to follow all safety rules. Knowledge of converting all paper types is essential. The position requires the employee to have a forklift driver’s certificate and the ability to use normal set up tools and measuring equipment.

**

**Essential Functions:
**
- Bringing jumbo rolls of paper from the warehouse, using a forklift, removing packaging materials and loading roll into machine.
- Hoist to remove individual rolls.
- Setting slitter knives into place to convert the large roll into smaller ribbons.
- Utilize machine controls related to speed and brake pressure on the unwind stand to convert material with optimum efficiency while minimizing scrap.
- Move completed ribbons to inventory or set up in manufacturing area on roll stands using forklift.
- Follow all safety rules and wear required PPE.
**Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
**
- Must have ability to use basic tools and inspection devices.
- Maintains housekeeping by moving scrap material to baler, putting tools away and sweeping the work area and machinery.
- Physical demand includes standing 85% of the time. Some kneeling and stooping. Lifting over 50 pounds is unusual and requires assistance.
