We are hiring a new Program Director to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall leadership and day-to-day management of the Casa Rene program, a short-term, residential, crisis facility. This role ensures operational compliance with licensing regulations, accrediting agency standards, and Buckelew Programs (BP) policies and procedures. The Program Director supports the mission and values of BP through ethical conduct, confidentiality, and effective program delivery. In addition to operational oversight, the Program Director contributes to program development across the continuum of services and serves as a member of BP’s Leadership Team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrative Oversight
- Lead planning, growth, staffing, and development of assigned program(s).
- Set annual program goals, objectives, and activities.
- Collaborate with financial staff to develop and monitor budgets; ensure expenditures align with approved budgets and policies.
- Coordinate with Administrative and Operations teams to maintain compliance with internal procedures.
- Assist Regional Director in fiscal and contract management responsibilities.
Staff Management
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff and volunteers in line with agency policies.
- Ensure staff conduct proper client assessments and develop treatment/termination plans with appropriate referrals.
- Manage program intake and client case assignments.
- Coordinate with Quality and Compliance staff to handle record requests and subpoenas.
- Partner with the People Team to ensure proper implementation of administrative processes.
Clinical Duties
- Manage referrals, intake, and discharge processes and how it aligns with contracts.
- Guide staff in developing and implementing client treatment plans using psychosocial rehabilitation practices.
- Management of staff documentation standards in designated Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Conduct periodic audits of client charts and ensure ongoing compliance with HIPAA, Medi-Cal, and contractual standards.
- Identify and connect clients with community resources to enhance their program experience.
Program Quality & Compliance
- Ensure high-quality service delivery using evidence-based or industry-standard practices.
- Maintain compliance with all legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations, including CARF, Medi-Cal, CCL, HUD, etc.
- Oversee quality assurance activities and produce regular data and outcome reports.
Business Development
- Cultivate and expand current and new business opportunities through collaboration with internal and external partners.
- Support senior management in public/private contract development and oversight.
- Monitor and adjust program design based on strategic goals and organizational values.
Community Outreach & Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community service providers and stakeholders.
- Represent Buckelew Programs at community events, professional presentations, and public engagements.
- Assist Development Department in fundraising, grant proposals, reporting, and marketing efforts.
- Promote awareness of program services across the community and professional networks.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field (or equivalent).
- Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts preferred; may be required for certain programs.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a mental health setting, including:
- 2 years of direct service experience.
- 2 years in an administrative/supervisory role.
- 2 years in a residential or assisted independent living program (if applicable).
- Experience working with individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders preferred.
Professional Requirements
- Fluent in English; bilingual/bicultural preferred.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Valid California driver’s license, insurable driving record, and insured vehicle required.
- Ability to pass Live Scan background check (if applicable).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Intermittent activities: listening, talking, seeing, stretching, bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, lifting (up to 30 lbs), pushing, pulling, grasping.
- Extended activities: driving, writing, standing, typing, and sitting.

Salary : $90,000 - $93,000
