Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Dog Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal handling and a genuine love for dogs. This role involves training dogs of various breeds and temperaments, ensuring they develop good behavior and obedience. The Dog Trainer will work closely with pet owners to educate them on effective training techniques and promote positive relationships between them and their pets.
Duties
- Conduct individual and group training sessions for dogs, focusing on obedience, socialization, and behavioral modification.
- Develop customized training plans based on the specific needs of each dog and their owner.
- Utilize positive reinforcement techniques to encourage desired behaviors in dogs.
- Monitor the progress of each dog throughout the training process and adjust methods as necessary.
- Provide guidance to pet owners on proper care, handling, and training practices.
- Maintain a safe and clean training environment for both dogs and clients.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a comprehensive approach to pet care.
- Keep accurate records of each dog's training progress and communicate updates to pet owners.
- Use balanced training methodology taught and approved by company owner.
- Use all tools in an appropriate and approved manner only.
Requirements
- 5 years of experience in dog training or related fields such as pet grooming, veterinary assistance, or animal handling is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of canine behavior and effective training techniques.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required during training sessions or while managing multiple dogs.
- Experience in related areas such as pet sitting or equine care is a plus.
- A genuine passion for animals and commitment to their well-being is essential.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends and holidays if necessary.
- Must be able to be self sufficient, able to sell and manage a territory and grow business in that territory.
