Position Summary
The Lumber Yard worker is responsible for sorting and racking lumber according to grade markings and size. They often operate a forklift or Industrial truck to assist in moving and loading materials and products.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding customer service
- Answers questions, identify and direct customers to building materials and merchandise in the lumber yard
- Load merchandise on to store delivery trucks for delivery or transfer
- Assist with unloading deliveries, as necessary
- Remove lumber from units and place boards in rack, according to grade and length
- Reads work order, invoice, or follows oral instructions to determine materials or containers needing moved and/or loaded
- Assist customers with loading purchased merchandise
- Maintain the appearance of the yard and racks in an orderly and clean manner
- Operate forklift or industrial truck to assist in loading or moving merchandise and materials
- Complete daily forklift inspections
- Adhere to Loss Prevention, inventory control, and compliance procedures
- Safety awareness of anything in store that may be hazard to employees or customers
- Effectively communicates customer issues and concerns to all applicable internal staff members
- Additional duties, as assigned
- Strong work ethic
- Forklift experience is preferred
- Ability to:
- Read and comprehend simple verbal or written instructions
- Effectively communicate with customers, management, and co-workers
- Demonstrate initiative and effective problem-solving skills within the scope of the position
- Work in a fast-paced environment
