Duties
- Conduct patrols of assigned areas, ensuring safety and security for the community.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls, accidents, and incidents, providing first aid and CPR when necessary.
- Investigate crimes by gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing detailed reports in accordance with procedural law.
- Enforce traffic laws through surveillance, issuing citations, and managing traffic control during events or accidents.
- Execute arrest procedures following legal protocols, including search and seizure laws, to ensure lawful apprehensions.
- Maintain surveillance operations to monitor suspicious activities or persons of interest.
- Handle evidence with care, adhering to evidence law standards, and assist in criminal investigations as needed.
- Engage in conflict management and use of force training to de-escalate situations effectively while ensuring safety for all parties involved.
- Enforce local ordinances and Georgia State laws.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of criminal law, criminal procedure, procedural law, and evidence law to ensure lawful operations.
- Excellent report writing skills for documenting investigations, incidents, and daily activities clearly and accurately.
- Proficiency in driving skills with experience operating police vehicle safely under various conditions.
- Ability to perform physical conditioning exercises required for law enforcement duties and use of force scenarios.
- Experience with firearms handling specific to law enforcement standards along with comprehensive use of force training.
- Familiarity with traffic laws, local ordinances, search and seizure laws, and immigration regulations relevant to law enforcement activities.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with the public, colleagues, and emergency responders; conflict management capabilities are essential.
- Knowledge of surveillance techniques and criminal investigation procedures to support ongoing cases.
