What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Design Engineer position at BTQ?
BTQ is developing the most powerful and efficient post-quantum secure hardware on the market. By leveraging processing-in-memory technology, we can achieve 10x the performance-per-watt and per-area of conventional architectures. We’re looking for a talented Digital Design Engineer to contribute to our chip architecture, microarchitecture, RTL design, and verification, with a focus on ensuring our silicon is both performant and secure.
In this role, you will improve, maintain, and extend the RTL implementation of our processing-in-memory accelerator. You will work with the software and cryptography teams to ensure that our hardware supports the necessary operations to deliver high performance on key cryptographic algorithms. You will also own the implementation of hardware-level features for mitigating power and EM side-channel attacks.
You should have a track record of impressive digital design work, either in academia or in industry. You should be able to design a complex digital block from a plain-English specification, develop testbenches with sufficient coverage to ensure functionality, and properly integrate that block into a larger system, without significant oversight.
You should ideally have a background in designing secure digital systems, including side-channel security countermeasures like masking, and anti-tamper countermeasures.
Minimum qualifications:
- BS, MS, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or other relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Fluent in Verilog and/or SystemVerilog.
- Fluent in C and/or C .
- Fluent in Python.
Preferred qualifications:
- Understanding of best practices for testbench design.
- Experience with FPGA emulation.
- Experience working with RISC pipelines and architectures.
- Experience developing secure hardware, especially including side-channel and anti-tamper countermeasures.
This role is hybrid, and can be based in our New York City office or our Portland, Oregon office.
