What You’ll Do
As a Material Handler and Saw Operator, you will support production by cutting, moving, tracking, and preparing materials throughout the shop. Typical daily responsibilities include:
Receiving & Inventory
- Receive and unload vendor deliveries
- Verify quantities, dimensions, and inspect incoming materials for any damage
- Enter received materials into the ERP system accurately
- Assign materials to the correct work orders
- Process materials into inventory and manage storage locations
- Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory events
Material Movement & Logistics
- Move materials between buildings and departments
- Deliver raw materials to machines based on the production schedule
- Remove finished components and deliver them to the next operation
- Load, stage, and organize materials using forklifts, carts, and cranes
- Support outgoing dispatch to outside vendors
Saw Operation
- Set up and operate saws in both attended and unattended modes
- Cut raw material according to specs
- Use pre-staging and post-processing equipment safely and correctly
Workplace Organization & Safety
- Maintain clean and organized work areas following 5S standards
- Follow all safety rules, including proper PPE use
- Communicate with multiple departments to keep materials flowing
What We’re Looking ForRequired Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in material handling, warehousing, or receiving
- Ability to read basic blueprints
- Basic math skills for measuring and saw cutting
- Valid Michigan driver’s license
- Hi-lo (forklift) certification or willingness to obtain it
- Ability to safely operate an overhead crane
- Basic computer skills for data entry (ERP experience is a plus)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for most of the workday
- Legible handwriting and strong attention to detail
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
