Heavy Equipment Excavator Operator (CAT)

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner
• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks on machines
• Practice workplace safety
• Perform deep trenching methods using trench boxes and slide rail systems.
• Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and level earth to grade specifications.
• Knowledge of operation of excavators and other pieces of heavy equipment (CAT preferred)
• Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
• Ability to work in a safe and responsible manner
• Effective verbal and listening communication skills
• Ability to install sewer, water, duct banks, and storm drain pipes
• Must be honest, trustworthy, and demonstrate sound work ethics
• Must have physical strength, hand-eye coordination, and endurance
• Must have transportation, be punctual, and dependable
• Working knowledge of trench boxes
• Willingness to travel

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Sit 1/3 2/3 of the time
• Lift between 25 80 pounds - 1/3 to 2/3 of the time
• Reach with hands and arms 1/3 to 2/3 of the time
• Climb or balance 1/3 to 2/3 of the time
• Stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl 1/3 to 2/3 of the time
• Climb up and down ladders
• 5 years experience and/or training (CAT experience preferred).
• Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and process manuals.
• Valid Utah drivers license with a safe driving record.
