Position Title: Decision Support Assistant Compensation: $50,000 - $60,000 Department: Office of Institutional Research and Decision Support_A About this opportunity: The Decision Support Assistant serves as a front-of-house liaison for the IRDS. The incumbent will communicate IRDS activities and research through our web presence, provide consultations to users regarding institutional data, and support the deployment and use of institutional data tools. Additionally, this role supports the active development of data governance, data literacy, and survey infrastructure. Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship. What you'll do and what you'll bring: Position Function: In this role, you'll work closely with the university community to develop and maintain report and business term definitions, ensuring thorough documentation of these decisions. You'll become a subject matter expert on Data Cookbook to bolster Data Governance efforts at BSU and maintain existing data visualizations to enhance data understanding and support effective decision-making. Responsibilities also include validating dashboard data with Institutional Research, testing dashboards for issues, and collecting specifications from college stakeholders to deliver high-quality reports in various formats. Additionally, you'll support the director with meeting agendas, minutes, and follow-ups, update project management software for Decision Support staff, support the evaluation of items covered by the Data Rating System, and help create technical documentation for the university community. You will also support the completion of external survey requests such as those from US News, CDS, and IPEDS. Duties and Responsibilities: Provide front-line support to users on existing data tools and resources provided by IRDS, including Data Cookbook, Tableau, and Qualtrics. Direct users to helpful resources where required and escalate when needed. Provide consultation and engagement with university stakeholders to expand decision support objectives across the institution. Manage consult form responses, provide individualized support, and complete data requests as needed. Support the director and other DS staff with project management and rollout. Ensure timely release and communication regarding IRDS data products on our website, blog, and training spaces. Perform user testing and analysis to find and report issues in existing data resources. Work with Decision Support staff to support survey development, deployment, and reporting. Monitor survey responses, survey review requests, and IRDS survey distributions. Maintain and update the institutional survey calendar. Support the creation of technical documentation and learning materials for the university community on the effective use of Data Cookbook, Tableau, and other data systems. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Psychology, Sociology, Statistics, or related field from an accredited university. In lieu of Bachelor's degree, an associate's degree will be considered when combined with applicable work experience. Preferred Qualifications: Graduate-level course work, certification, or degree from an accredited college or university. One or more years of relevant work experience, including internships and graduate assistantships, in accessing data from Data systems to perform analyses and produce comprehensive reports. Previous experience working in higher education. Experience with technical writing. Familiarity with AI tools is a plus.
