Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation:
- Prepare and cook menu items according to the restaurant's recipes and specifications.
- Ensure all food products are of the highest quality, and freshness, and are prepared to order.
- Portion and plate food products according to established standards.
Cooking:
- Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Grill, fry, bake, and sauté food items as needed.
- Monitor and maintain the proper temperature of cooking equipment.
Quality Control:
- Inspect food products for freshness and quality.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared according to the specified portion sizes and presentation guidelines.
- Taste and evaluate food products for quality before serving.
Cleanliness and Organization:
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment by following food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Clean and sanitize cooking surfaces, utensils, and equipment.
- Organize and stock kitchen stations with necessary supplies and ingredients.
Teamwork:
- Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding food orders, preparation, and timing.
- Assist with training and mentoring of junior kitchen staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years experience as a line cook in a restaurant or food service establishment is required.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Open availability a must, as this will require lunch and dinner shifts.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- A culinary degree or certification from a recognized culinary institute is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
- Ability to withstand high temperatures in a kitchen environment.
Working Conditions:
- Fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat, steam, and noise.
- Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required.
Salary and Benefits:
- $21-26/hr tips DOE.
