Join BSI Financial Services as a Underwriter in our Lending Division. Our lending division is continuing to expand and we are looking for an underwriter who will complete a thorough analysis of loan files to determine credit worthiness, underwrite according to current guidelines from multiple investors, calculate complex income scenarios, respond to post closing reviews and audits, and assist in other areas as needed.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time hybrid position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Overtime may be required as needed.
What you will do:
- Complete thorough and accurate analyses and prepare financial statement spreadsheets, determine the credit worthiness of the borrower, prepare a thorough written analysis of the loan request and financial condition of the borrower, assess a proper loan grade, identify exceptions to policy and guide the Credit Approval Document through the loan approval process.
- Requires in-depth knowledge of the mortgage rules and regulations, to include understanding the various Standard Operating Procedures manuals for Conventional, FHA and VA loans.
- Working knowledge of Conventional, FHA and/or VA eligibility, structuring, and loan program parameters (and staying abreast of any changes in these programs).
- Documenting and effectively communicating reasons for the approval/rejection of loans.
- Train staff on various underwriting issues such as appraisals, credit reports, income calculations, credit guidelines.
What we’re looking for:
- Minimum of 3 years underwriting experience required.
- DE and /or LAPP certification highly preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of GSE, FHA, and VA underwriting guidelines and relevant regulations
- Highly organized and able to prioritize
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Detail oriented with strong data analysis skills
- Proficiency in Automated Underwriting Systems
