Your responsibilities
The Benefits Manager serves as the organization’s subject matter expert for U.S. self-funded health and welfare programs, the 401(k) retirement plan, and leave of absence administration. This role partners on the strategic design, maintains oversight, and compliance of benefit programs, directs vendor and broker relationships, leads open enrollment, and analyzes complex claims and cost data to recommend improvements. Partnering with leadership, the Benefits Manager ensures programs are competitive, cost-effective, and aligned with organizational goals, while also providing executive oversight for ancillary offerings such as vehicle allowances, remote work stipends, and tuition reimbursement.
Job Functions
Serves as the lead SME of self-funded medical, dental, vision, stop-loss, and pharmacy benefit programs to ensure competitiveness, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.- Manages the administration of the company’s 401(k) plan, including plan design recommendations, vendor oversight, investment review facilitation, and compliance with ERISA and IRS requirements in coordination with fiduciary committees.
- Lead the design, policy development, and vendor performance management for leave of absence programs (FMLA, state leaves, ADA, disability) to ensure consistent application and a positive employee experience.
- Manages the organization’s ADA compliance program, guiding leaders and employees through accommodation processes while ensuring adherence to legal and policy requirements.
- Oversees broker, TPA, and carrier relationships to ensure contractual compliance, negotiate favorable terms, and resolve escalated and high-impact issues.
- Drives the annual open enrollment process, from strategic planning and program updates to enterprise-wide communications and post-enrollment analysis.
- Interprets and analyzes complex claims, utilization, and cost data across health, retirement, and leave programs; presents actionable insights to senior leadership to guide decision-making.
- Support enterprise-level compliance with ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, and other applicable regulations, including the accuracy and timeliness of required filings such as Form 5500 and ACA reports.
- Maintains formal plan documents, SPDs, SBCs, plan amendments, and leave policies, ensuring they reflect both regulatory requirements and business strategy.
- Partners with senior leaders in Payroll, HRIS, and Finance to set strategic benefits budgets, forecast costs, approve complex adjustments, and ensure accurate deductions, contributions, and billing.
- Provides executive oversight for ancillary benefit programs (vehicle allowance, remote work stipends, tuition reimbursement, etc.), including policy development, budget alignment, and vendor contract management.

Your profile
- Four Year College Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field – Required
- 10 Years - Benefits Design & Administration (multi-state) Experience – Required
- 7-10 Years - Self-Funded Insurance Product Experience - Required
- 7-10 Years – 401(k) Plan Design & Administration Experience – Required
- 7-10 Years – Leave of Absence Design & Administration Experience - Required
- Expert-level understanding of U.S. self-funded health and welfare plan design, funding models, and cost-containment strategies.
- Comprehensive knowledge of ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, CFRA, ADA, and IRS retirement plan requirements.
- Strong expertise in 401(k) plan administration, fiduciary oversight, and investment committee processes.
- Proficiency in managing leave of absence programs, including federal, state, and company-specific policies.
- Advanced ability to interpret and analyze claims, utilization, and cost data to guide strategic decisions.
- Skilled in managing broker, TPA, carrier, and vendor relationships to ensure performance and compliance.
- Proficiency with HRIS, benefits administration systems, and advanced Excel or analytics tools.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for explaining complex benefit concepts clearly.
- Strong project management skills to lead open enrollment and enterprise-wide benefits initiatives.
- Collaborative leadership style with proven ability to influence across departments and organizational levels.
- Travel 10%
Your Pay & Benefits
The pay range posted for this position is based on the location noted in the posting title. Exact compensation offered may vary based on your specific skillset and work location. If the position is bonus or incentive eligible then the maximum payout potential is 200% of target with details laid out within the plan document.

Salary : $108,018 - $144,023
