What You'll Do:
BSA is seeking an experienced and licensed architect to join our team as the Director of Learning & Discovery (Higher Education and Research/Laboratory) Planning. This role is crucial for leading the initial planning phases of our projects, ensuring that we are positioned as industry leaders and delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning Leadership
- Lead the upfront planning and programming efforts for projects in the learning and discovery (higher education and research/labs) sectors.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and translate them into strategic facility plans.
- Guide project teams in developing innovative solutions that align with client goals and industry standards.
Client Engagement and Relationship Building
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to ensure long-term success and repeat business.
- Conduct presentations and workshops to engage clients and stakeholders in the planning process.
Project Management and Coordination
- Oversee the development of master plans, feasibility studies, and space programming.
- Ensure that all planning activities are aligned with project goals, budgets, and timelines.
- Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, and external partners to deliver comprehensive planning solutions.
Market Positioning and Thought Leadership
- Develop and promote practice-related content, including case studies, market trends, and thought leadership articles.
- Represent BSA at industry events, conferences, and speaking engagements.
- Contribute to the firm’s reputation as a leader in facility planning through published works and public presentations.
Education and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or a related field.
- Licensure: Licensed Architect with current registration; NCARB certification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in facility planning, with a strong focus on education or research projects.
- Computer Skills: Microsoft Teams environment, including Co-Pilot, Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel; Large Language Models (LLM's), familiarity with Deltek VantagePoint preferred; Architecture CAD, Revit, Sketchup, Bluebeam; Graphic Software: InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and other transformative design tools.
