Structural Steel Detailer

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Steel Detailer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating accurate and detailed drawings and models for steel structures, ensuring that all specifications meet industry standards. This role requires proficiency in various design software and a strong understanding of construction processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed steel fabrication drawings using CAD software, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project specifications.
• Collaborate with engineers and architects to understand project requirements and provide necessary design support.
• Utilize software tools such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Bluebeam, and others to create 2D and 3D models of steel structures.
• Prepare schematics and drafting documents that clearly communicate design intent to fabrication teams.
• Conduct reviews of design documents for compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
• Assist in the development of system designs, including mechanical design aspects where applicable.
• Participate in project meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and solutions with team members.
• Maintain organized records of all drawings, revisions, and related documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Technology.
• 3 years of 3D modeling/detailing experience using SDS2 software.
• Dedicated attention to detail, thoroughness and tenacity.
• Advanced understanding of structural design of beams, columns, bracing, connections, base plates and anchor bolts.
• Highly experienced with industry codes & standards including AISC, AWS, ASCE, IBC, ANSI, and OSHA.
• Shop fabrication or structural steel construction experience a plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Positive, proactive attitude and team-first mindset.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Willingness to work on-site, 45 hours per week.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70, $100,000.00 per year
