Position Overview: Bryn Mawr College is seeking a Kitchen Associate/Utility to perform a variety of duties associated with the cleaning and sanitary maintenance of the dining units and to help with the service of meals and special events for members of our campus community, including operating the dishroom and washing pots.

Position Responsibilities:

Dishroom & Kitchen Operations

• Set up, operate, clean, and break down dishroom and ware-washing equipment.
• Scrape, wash, rack, and transport dishware, glassware, utensils, trays, pots, and pans.
• Set up and stock meal service areas with clean dishware, utensils, napkins, beverages, and other supplies.
• Set up and break down beverage stations, steam tables, and the yogurt machine.
• Clean kitchen equipment and assist the Receiver as directed.

Cleaning, Sanitation & Safety

• Sweep, mop, and vacuum kitchen, dining, and floor mat areas.
• Maintain clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and dining environments.
• Follow ServSafe and applicable college, local, state, and federal sanitation, food safety, and health guidelines.
• Complete temperature logs and monitor refrigerated items and other food-service areas as assigned.

Dining & Customer Service

• Serve meals to students, faculty, staff, and guests, ensuring proper portions and timely refills.
• Assist with special and catering events.
• Provide professional, helpful service and maintain positive interactions with students, faculty, staff, visitors, and dining associates.

Waste Management & Sustainability

• Empty trash and replace liners.
• Properly sort and dispose of recyclable and compostable materials, including plastic, cans, glass, cardboard, and food scraps.

Training, Supervision & General Support

• Train and supervise student staff in proper dishroom, setup, breakdown, sanitation, safety, and customer service procedures.
• Support dining operations and other unit activities as directed by management.
• Work as essential staff during inclement weather when required.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

This full-time staff position has a schedule of 40 hours per week. Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Prior Food Service Cleaning/Maintenance experience is highly preferred.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions
• Ability to stand, sit, stoop, bend down, kneel, climb stairs, at times for extended periods, lift up to 70 lbs. and heavier items (with or without assistance).
• Good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to move between workstations and within campus buildings.
• Ability to work in variable and at times, adverse conditions (e.g. hot and cold weather, indoors and outdoors).
• This position is considered essential staff and may be required to work during inclement weather (weather differential pay available for instances where College administration applies a weather emergency designation, based on inclement weather conditions).
• Successful completion of satisfactory references, background checks, and pre-employment physical.
