Preschool Summer Teacher Assistant

Bryant Woods Montessori Children's House (BWMCH) is seeking an energetic and loving individual to serve as the Summer Program Teacher Assistant for our school. We are seeking someone able to start as soon as possible.

BWMCH is the only AMS accredited Montessori preschool in Howard County, founded and located in Columbia, MD since 1969. We are a single-classroom school serving children from ages 3 to 6 years (Pre-K to Kindergarten) from diverse backgrounds. Job Responsibilities:

• Assisting Lead Teacher with the general supervision and management of the class throughout the day
• Interacting with children to provide guidance, support, and motivation
• Keeping the classroom materials freshly stocked and organized with regular light cleaning

The successful candidate will be able to communicate well with parents and maintain open communication with the Lead Teacher, the Head of School, and our administrative staff.

Desired Qualifications:

• High school diploma
• Ability to care for groups of children of varying ages, needs, and abilities and treat everyone with love and respect
• At least 1 year of experience working with preschoolers
• Early Child Development Coursework: 90 hours of approved early childhood coursework (45 hours curriculum and 45 hours child development)
• First Aid Training, CPR Training
• At least 9 clock hours of approved training in communicating with parents, staff, and the public (or completion of 1 academic year of college coursework for credit)
• 3 clock hours in ADA compliance
• Reliable transportation and ability to work in Columbia, MD

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour based on experience

Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:30AM-3:30PM

Summer Program Schedule (Mon-Fri)

• Session 1 - June 16-20 , June 23 -27
• Off Week - June 30 – July 4
• Session 2 – July 7 – 11 , July 14 -18
• Session 3 – July 21 – 25 , July 28 – Aug. 1
• Session 4 – Aug 4 -8 , Aug. 11 -15
