Assistant Teacher – 12-6 PM - Monday to Friday - SUMMER POSITION

As a professional individual, the classroom assistant teacher works closely with the lead teacher to provide and maintain a positive and appropriate educational program that meets the social, emotional, physical and intellectual needs of the children within their care.

Qualifications/Requirements: The primary focus of the assistant teacher is to support the provision of high-quality programming within their assigned classroom. High quality classroom programming must include a triangulated framework of family-centered practices; developmentally, individually and culturally appropriate practices and intentional teaching; and program support. The classroom assistant teacher must be a professional committed to “best practices,” always striving for excellence and successful child outcomes. An effective classroom assistant teacher must have the following education, experience and abilities:

• Child Development Associate (CDA) or college credits towards an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE). CPL level II or higher.
• Certified in first aid, CPR and mandated reporting.
• Ability to pass a thorough criminal background check and drug screening.
• Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to use technology such as iPads, and other educational resources.
• Ability to effectively read, write and communicate the English language. Bilingualism is a plus.

Classroom assistant teachers must be enthusiastic and energetic as well as nurturing and patient. They must be trustworthy, respect confidentiality, and be culturally aware and sensitive. Lastly, a effective classroom assistant teacher must be a good “team player” and have the ability to work well with others.

Pay: Up to $14.00 per hour
