Position Summary

Bryant Industrial is seeking an experienced Boom Truck Crane Operator to operate truck-mounted cranes on industrial, commercial, and structural projects throughout the Southeastern United States. This position requires an individual who can safely drive, set up, inspect, and operate boom truck cranes while coordinating with rigging crews, project managers, and customers.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of crane operations, load charts, rigging practices, equipment limitations, and jobsite safety requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Safely drive and operate boom truck cranes at industrial, commercial, and construction job sites.
• Inspect the crane, truck, wire rope, hooks, outriggers, safety devices, and related components before and after each shift.
• Evaluate jobsite conditions, including ground stability, overhead hazards, power lines, access limitations, and operating radius.
• Properly position the boom truck and deploy outriggers using appropriate cribbing, blocking, and mats.
• Read and interpret load charts to determine crane capacity based on load weight, boom length, operating radius, configuration, and site conditions.
• Perform lifts in accordance with manufacturer specifications, company policies, approved lift plans, and applicable safety regulations.
• Verify load weights, rigging configurations, center of gravity, and lifting points before beginning each lift.
• Inspect rigging equipment and ensure loads are properly secured before lifting.
• Maintain clear communication with riggers, signal persons, supervisors, customers, and other personnel throughout crane operations.
• Stop operations whenever unsafe conditions exist or a lift cannot be completed within the crane’s rated capacity.
• Complete required crane inspection forms, driver logs, lift documentation, and jobsite safety paperwork.
• Maintain accurate records and immediately report equipment damage, mechanical issues, safety concerns, or jobsite delays.
• Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and basic operator-level maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Comply with all OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, manufacturer, company, and jobsite safety requirements.
• Assist with rigging, equipment handling, and other jobsite duties when the crane is not actively operating.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating boom truck cranes in industrial, commercial, or construction environments.
• Current NCCCO Mobile Crane Operator certification appropriate for the equipment operated. TSS certification is required for fixed-cab boom trucks.
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License required; Class A CDL preferred.
• Current DOT medical certification required.
• Acceptable driving record and ability to meet company insurance requirements.
• Strong knowledge of crane setup, load charts, operating limitations, rigging practices, and safe lifting procedures.
• Ability to evaluate ground conditions, crane configuration, load weight, operating radius, and potential jobsite hazards.
• Ability to perform daily and monthly crane inspections and accurately complete required documentation.
• Ability to understand and follow lift plans, job hazard analyses, and project-specific safety requirements.
• Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

• Must be able to pass required drug screenings and background checks.

Preferred Qualifications

• NCCCO Rigger Level I or Level II certification.
• NCCCO Signalperson certification.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• Experience working at industrial facilities, military installations, and active construction sites.
• Experience performing structural steel, machinery, HVAC, precast, or equipment-placement lifts.

Travel Requirements

• Some out-of-state travel is required.
• Ability to travel and work on projects throughout the Southeastern United States.
• Flexibility to work early mornings, overtime, weekends, and varying schedules as project demands require.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to climb into and out of trucks, crane operator stations, and equipment.
• Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and handle rigging and crane-support equipment.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.

Pay: $20.00–$30.00 per hour
