GENERAL SUMMARY:
Provides daily cleaning and sanitizing of a variety of in-patient, clinic, public, administrative, and surgical areas within the facility and off-site facility buildings. Collects, removes and transports trash, bio waste, sharps containers and soiled linen. Replenishes supplies and linens in assigned areas. Performs inventory and restocking duties. Assists nutrition services in absence of nutrition tech. Completes work in accordance with department and Medical Center policies, procedures and infection control guidelines.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

4. *Operates/demonstrates, cleans and stores equipment properly and reports issues to department leadership.
5. *Operates a variety of machines and cleaning equipment. (i.e., scrubbers, buffers, UV light robot, chemical dispensers)
6. Maintains understanding of chemical use related to specific work areas and material safety data sheets (MSDS).
7. Explains, promotes and follows policies including safety, security and infection control policies and guidelines.
8. Recognizes and responds to emergencies according to procedure.
9. *Maintains carts, shelves, storage areas and work areas in a clean orderly fashion.
10. *Wears appropriate protective equipment for products and equipment being used and assignments being completed.
11. *Cleans and resets all patient, clinic and administrative areas of facility following facility and infection control policies and procedures and Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) guidelines.
12. Seals, transports, and stores infectious and confidential waste and compacts non-infectious and non-confidential waste.
13. *Power scrubs/buffs floors and shampoos carpeted areas as needed.
14. Enters restricted access areas, without supervision, to perform assigned work.
15. Replenishes supplies and linens in assigned areas.
16. Assists in arranging furniture in patient rooms and meeting rooms.
17. Sets up patient trays with cold food/drink, utensils and related supplies in absence of other team members.
18. Deliver meals to patient care areas in absence of other team members.
19. *Participates in linen distribution processes including ordering/unloading/sorting linen carts, performing physical inventory of linens and assembling, filling and delivering linen orders.
20. Reviews unit’s guest services needs related to patient dismissals and transfers.
21. Routinely monitors appearance of the facility and problem-solves and reports housekeeping or maintenance needs to the appropriate staff.
22. Accurately and effectively operates cash register and makes appropriate customer change.
23. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
24. Participates in meetings, committees and lean projects as assigned.
25. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or equivalency preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older. Previous custodial, janitor or cleaning experience preferred.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Per Leader’s Discretion - Valid State of Nebraska driver’s license required. Verification and maintenance of responsible driving record per facility standards required.

Schedule: Full-time, Day shift, 4 - 10 hour shifts/week (8am-6:30pm, 9:30am-8pm), every third weekend (8am-6:30pm)
