Job Summary

The Project Engineer (PE) supports the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role assists project managers and superintendents in managing schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and documentation to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.

Essential Functions

  • Read and interpret drawings and specifications by maintaining and distributing drawings; collecting cost, scope and schedule impacts from subcontractors; and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of as-builts and mark-ups.
  • Manage the submittal process by creating submittal schedules from specifications, collaborating with subcontractors, and ensuring submittals are updated in the project management software and distributed appropriately.
  • Create, track, and maintain the Request for Information (RFI) workflow. Distribute RFIs in a timely manner to the project team and clarify questions that arise. Post responses to drawings and follow up for any schedule and cost impacts.
  • Schedule meetings, take minutes, and distribute meeting minutes to project stakeholders.
  • Compile closeout documentation including warranties, operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals, as-built drawings, and final inspections. Facilitate owner training and ensure red-line drawings are completed and provided to the client.
  • Partner with the project team to capture, distribute, and close punchlist items in the project management software, as appropriate.
  • Assist with the inspection process, permitting, and other regulatory requirements, as needed.
  • Ensure all documentation is submitted and archived appropriately for turnover.
  • Support safety processes, ensuring subcontractors submit required safety documentation, as appropriate.
  • Assist with warranty issues, including organizing subcontractors, ensuring work completion, communicating regularly with the client, and identifying any cost impacts.
  • Assist with Quality Control Measures, as needed, ensuring adherence to sustainability plans.

Work Environment

This job operates in a construction work site environment with others as well as in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and personal protection equipment. Work may require occasional weekend and evening work.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use manual dexterity. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, speak, hear, use eye/hand coordination, and reach with arms and hands. The employee must frequently be able to work in a construction job site environment, including but not limited to working outside, excessive heat/cold, fumes/smoke/gases, walking on uneven surfaces, noise/vibrations, and working around moving equipment/machinery. The employee is frequently required to climb stairs and ladders, balance, stoop or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Expected Hours of Work/Travel

Ability to travel to multiple locations or job sites daily or weekly as needed.

Required Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or similar field, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, to include Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
  • OSHA 30 or ability to complete upon hire

Preferred Education And Experience

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience using Bluebeam
  • Experience with a general contractor on commercial building projects
  • Experience working as a Project Engineer
  • Experience using construction management software
  • Experience reading and understanding drawings and specifications
  • Experience managing permitting and licensing processes
  • File management experience
  • Drug Screening and Background investigation required**
  • This project location requires eligible candidates to have US Citzenship**

Salary Range: $72,000-$90,000
