TITLE:                      TITLE I TEACHER

CONTRACT:             10-MONTH (GRANT FUNDED) 

SALARY:                  TEACHER SALARY SCALE COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE

DEPARTMENT:         BRUNSWICK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL 

START DATE:           AUGUST 1

FLSA:                       Exempt

Job Description:  The Elementary Title I Teacher/Coach is responsible for working with core content teachers to implement evidence-based strategies to improve student achievement.  The Elementary Title I Teacher will analyze assessment data to identify students in need of intervention and/or remediation.  The Elementary Title I Teacher will monitor the progress of students identified and communicate the data to all stakeholders.  The Elementary Title I Teacher will provide targeted small-group instruction as needed to support the core curriculum.  The Elementary Title I Teacher will organize and host Title I informational parent programs and workshops designed to support student academic success.


Direct Accountability and Report:  Works under the supervision of the building-level principal, who is responsible for carrying out the guidance and direction of programs at the school level. An annual evaluation will be based upon the job description, district and personal goals and objectives specific to the school or the position, student achievement data, and the performance of the Elementary Title I Teacher. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher degree
  • Holds a Virginia Provisional, Collegiate, or Postgraduate Professional License in a specific content area applied.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful full-time teaching experience

 

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of curriculum, subject content, and student developmental needs.
  • Implement curriculum standards effectively, integrating higher-level thinking skills into instruction.
  • Exhibit expertise in the subject matter and relevant teaching skills.
  • Model effective strategies, teach demonstration or collaborative lessons in the classroom, and coach effective evidence-based instructional strategies in classrooms.
  • Assist teachers in planning lessons aligned with Virginia Standards of Learning and school curriculum.
  • Utilize student learning data to inform planning and differentiate instruction
  • Develop both long- and short-range plans, adjusting as needed.
  • Engage students through diverse instructional strategies tailored to individual needs.
  • Systematically collect, analyze, and utilize relevant data to measure student progress and establish measurable achievement goals based on baseline data.
  • Provide evidence of achievement goals met through various measures.
  • Utilize performance outcome data to communicate student progress and set learning targets.
  • Collaborate with the administration and other staff regarding data analysis and planning for the instructional needs of all students.
  • Support diverse student needs and promote inclusivity.
  • Coordinate informational Title I programs and workshops for parents and families.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

They will set goals for personal improvement, engage in activities for school and student enhancement, build positive relationships with parents/guardians through effective communication, and contribute to curriculum committees and professional learning communities.

 

General Definition and Conditions of Work: Duties performed typically in a school setting. Performs professional work providing teaching and/or training services to students in a specialized subject. Work requires frequent standing, sitting, light lifting up to 10 pounds, walking, vocal communication for expressing or exchanging ideas, hearing to perceive information at a normal spoken word level, and visual acuity for preparing and analyzing written or computer data.
