TITLE: SCHOOL TECHNOLOGY TECHNICIAN
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The School Technology Technician supports and maintains both administrative, instructional and CTE computers, software, and networks. This work includes repair of all technology-related equipment. The employee provides on-site assistance in all classrooms/labs including CTE, media centers, and administrative offices. Employee identifies problems and takes appropriate corrective action. Employee installs and upgrades all technology-related equipment in network and stand-alone environments. Typically, this employee will provide first response support from the system level for the maintenance and operation of computers, software, and networks at the building level. The employee may have multiple sites to maintain.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Licensing/Certification:
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License
- A , Network , Security certifications are a plus
- Additional certifications in Microsoft and/or CISCO are a plus
Education:
An associate's degree in Computer Science, Technology or related experience
Experience:
- Combination of (4) four years of education and/or experience with desktop and peripheral troubleshooting in a network environment
- Experience in an educational environment preferred
- Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Under the supervision of the Client Services Manager, assists with the installation of hardware, software, and related peripherals
- Ensures the maintenance of all computers and software by monitoring performance
- Process work orders in a timely manner with professional problem resolution focused customer service
- Installs upgrades to hardware and software
- Maintains asset paperwork for room assignments, transfers and disposals
- Assists with inventory processes as assigned by the supervisor.
- Makes recommendations to building-level staff regarding upgrades and replacement of technology-related equipment
- Operates standard and specialized electronics devices in testing and troubleshooting computers and other technology-related equipment
- Attends classes and seminars to enhance knowledge of equipment and operating systems
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Available for after hours emergencies and weekends to assist with the restoration of network services
- Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving failures or mitigating cybersecurity events
- Duties as assigned by Client Services Manager or Director
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

REPORTS TO: Client Services Manager
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Strength and energy sufficient to maintain an active work schedule involving driving and/or physical exertion; hearing and speaking to exchange information; seeing to perform assigned duties requiring close vision and ability to adjust focus; ability to distinguish between colors; standing, stooping, or sitting for extended periods of time; frequently walking; kneeling, bending at the waist and knee, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally as needed; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; frequently lifting and or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds; and ability to work at heights on ladders.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee regularly works in indoor conditions and regularly works near video display. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate. The employee interfaces with all levels of individuals within the school district.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months
SALARY GRADE: O
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
