Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Skidder Operator to join our forestry operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a skidder to transport logs from the cutting area to the landing site efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate has experience with heavy equipment, understands logging practices, and is committed to working in a physically demanding outdoor environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate skidder equipment to drag and transport logs from the harvest site to the designated landing area.
- Maneuver machinery safely through rough terrain, steep slopes, and dense forests.
- Inspect skidder daily for mechanical issues, fluid levels, and general condition; perform routine maintenance and report major issues.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of job sites as needed.
- Communicate effectively with feller bunchers, log loaders, and ground crew to maintain safe and efficient workflow.
- Follow company safety policies, environmental guidelines, and regulatory standards.
- Document daily activities, equipment inspections, and maintenance logs.
