The Role

 

We are looking for an experienced Bioinformatician to join our R&D department. The successful candidate will work with R&D leadership to establish Bioinformatic Innovation and Development efforts that relate to our ongoing Product Development. The Bioinformatician will furthermore play an important role in the design, development, and implementation of bioinformatic solutions that are needed to advance academic and industry collaborations. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in bioinformatics, image analysis and will already understand Spatial Biology. Experience in microscopy and/or histology is desirable but not a precondition.

 

In your role as a Bioinformatician, you will be given broad responsibilities and ownership of your projects. You will work on assignments that are complex in nature and require considerable judgment and initiative to solve problems. You will have room to maneuver and to execute your responsibilities creatively and effectively. Throughout your tenure you will be tasked with diverse projects, and you will need to be agile and flexible as you maneuver the complexities of each new problem. You will be expected to work reliably and to take on responsibility for the design, implementation, and proper function of your tools. This role reports to the Director of R&D and may include management of junior scientists.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

 

• Develop Bioinformatic solutions related to new product initiatives. • Evaluate existing solutions and provide new solutions for on-market products.• Develop new Bioinformatic analysis tools and routinely deploy these for academic and industry collaborations.• Work cross-functionally with wetlab teams to critically evaluate data obtained from multiplex biomarker assays.• Research and stay up to date on competing analysis platforms and participate in product roadmapping efforts.• Stay up to date on fast-moving analytical advances in Single-cell biology. • Perform routine testing and evaluation of internally developed software solutions and aid software teams with development efforts.• Collaborate across teams to accomplish specific tasks and company objectives within project.• Challenge the status quo where it exists by engaging in constructive critique of established practices and offering up alternate solutions.• May be asked to coach junior scientists.• May be asked to participate in travel to conferences and tradeshows.

Qualifications

• Requires a PhD with extensive Bioinformatic analysis background• Experience with image analysis• Industry experience is not required• Fluency in Python, R, MATLAB, or other programming platforms is required• Knowledge of machine or deep learning strategies• Excellent communication skills• Ability to communicate, educate and engage wet lab scientists• Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills

 

At Bruker, base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between $134,000 and $165,000 and provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base salary for the role will depend on a several job-related factors, including, but not limited to education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge and travel requirements for this position. Full-time employees may also be eligible for a performance-related incentive in addition to a full range of benefits including 401(k) with company match, an employee stock purchase plan, medical and dental plans, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, employee assistance program and paid time off including vacation, sick time and holidays, and more.
