JOB SUMMARY

The Fabrication Technician will work directly with Service Managers, Foreman, and Service Writer’s as needed. He/She must be able to perform with a minimum of supervision in the areas of frame repairs, axle alignment, fabrication and mechanical repairs to suspension, axles, brakes, and mounting of 5th wheels, winches, PTO’s, fenders, etc.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS AND PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
  1. Uses all tools of the trade with proficiency, including shop machines, power tools, alignment equipment, welders, torch, press, cut-off saw, etc. Able to maintain these along with their own personal tools.
  2. Able to read and understand blueprints and technical publications, including service manuals and service bulletins, and use this information to perform the work.
  3. Able to determine the usability of all associated parts and able to list and order all needed parts.
  4. Must be able to write a good write up of all work performed on each individual repair.
  5. Must be able to use or learn to use the computer to punch on and off repair orders, and electronic time clock.
  6. Perform repairs in an accepted time standard.
  7. Ability to perform all tasks in a safe manner.
  8. Ability to use and train helpers in a productive manner.
  9. Ability to follow Bruckner policy and procedure implied and expressed.
  10. Works with a minimum of supervision.
  11. Is a good steward of company tools and resources
  12. Achieves and maintains certifications as required by the company, the OEM’s or by Federal Law.
  13. Must be willing to do other miscellaneous functions as required; clean up, steam clean, salvage yard work, etc., as related to the business.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma desired.
  • Minimum 2-5 years as a mechanic and or alignment professional depending on competence level.
  • Must possess and use good interpersonal skills and have the ability to interact well with customers, vendors, and co-workers in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Must be able to read and write in English and understand computer generated reports, office reports, invoices, etc.
  • Must be able to operate various computer diagnostic devices, PC’s and laptops.
  • Must have good upper and lower toolbox with all needed hand tools to perform the necessary repairs to trucks, including ½ inch air impact wrench.

Physical Demands:

  • Involves essential ability to maneuver around, in, on and under trucks in order to properly inspect and diagnose all types of problems and repairs.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds to the waist and 25 pounds to the shoulder.

The working environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Due to the urgency of some repairs, this position contains some level of stress and requires the ability to handle multiple tasks smoothly. This position requires regular, predictable attendance.
