Duties
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system efficiently to process sales, returns, and exchanges with accuracy and speed
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product selections
- Conduct product demos when appropriate to highlight features and benefits, encouraging upselling opportunities
- Handle cash, credit/debit card transactions, and other payment methods securely and accurately, maintaining proper cash handling procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, ensuring merchandise is well-stocked and visually appealing through merchandising and stocking tasks
- Assist customers with inquiries over the phone using professional phone etiquette
- Promote store promotions, loyalty programs, and upselling opportunities to enhance sales performance
- Support inventory management by participating in stock replenishment and inventory counts
- Demonstrate product knowledge to educate customers about features and benefits of various items
- Engage in friendly communication with team members to ensure smooth store operations
Experience
- Previous experience in retail sales or cashiering is preferred but not required; we value enthusiasm and a willingness to learn
- Familiarity with POS systems and basic retail math for handling transactions accurately
- Supervising experience is a plus, especially for those interested in growth within the team
- Bilingual skills are highly desirable to better serve diverse customer needs
- Strong communication skills, including clear verbal expression and active listening
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a grocery store or retail environment
- Knowledge of grocery store operations, merchandising, stock management, and customer service best practices is advantageous
- Basic math skills for cash handling, giving correct change, and balancing registers
