Job Description

Location:

This is a full-time, work-from-office role with a required work-from-office presence five days a week.


Role in a nutshell:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team in Virginia, US as a Datacenter Operations Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of our datacenter infrastructure, ensuring its reliability, availability, and performance. You will work closely with a global team of senior engineers and technicians to maintain and troubleshoot datacenter equipment, deploy new hardware and software, and assist with monitoring and documentation tasks. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about datacenter operations and wants to develop their skills in a fast-paced and varied environment.


Desired experience:

  • Ideally, 2 to 3 years experience in an IT support role
  • Strong understanding of datacenter infrastructure components, including servers, storage systems, networking devices, and PDUs.
  • Proficiency in Linux and Mac OSx operating systems, including command-line interfaces and system administration tasks.
  • Experience with android and iOS a big plus (This can be taught to the right candidate)
  • Scripting in Bash, Ansible or similar would be advantageous.
  • Prior use of Jira, Confluence and Google workspace is desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of network protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and switching.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proactive, with a strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with datacenter operations best practices, such as equipment installation, cabling, power distribution, cooling, and environmental monitoring is nice to have, but can be taught.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) desirable.
  • Some experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Proxmox) and server hardware (e.g., Dell, HP) desirable but not required.
  • Language Requirements : English
  • You must have the right to work and reside in the US.


What will you do?

  • Assist in the maintenance and support of datacenter infrastructure, including servers, NAS systems, networking devices, Wifi AP's and power distribution units (PDUs).
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to deploy new hardware and software in the datacenter environment, ensuring proper installation, configuration, and testing.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and daily maintenance tasks to identify and resolve potential issues before they impact operations.
  • Inventory management - asset tag equipment and keep track of repairs
  • Monitor datacenter performance metrics, including temperature, power consumption, and network connectivity, and promptly escalate any anomalies or alarms to the appropriate teams.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues, working closely with global, cross-functional teams to ensure timely resolution and minimal downtime.
  • Contribute to the improvement of operational procedures and documentation, maintaining accurate records of system configurations, changes, and incident reports.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to coordinate equipment repairs and maintenance activities
  • Support datacenter security protocols, including physical access control, monitoring, and incident response procedures.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to datacenter operations, and actively contribute to continuous learning and professional development
