MUST UPLOAD: HS DIPLOMA/GED
REQUIRED: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required in English. One (1) year of related experience in working with students or parents; experience may be work in church-related schools, military schools, military training, day camps, youth groups, private schools, licensed day care centers, or other similar experiences that would be acceptable to the District .
PREFERRED:
Prior military training and experience or equivalent police or related training preferred. Forty (40) hours of college credit with some business orientation or equivalent business school training is preferred. Bilingual (English and Spanish) is preferred; ability to read and interpret documents such as lesson plans, operating instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of students.
Summary:
Performs any combination of the following instructional tasks dealing with the foundation curriculum and activities to assist the teaching staff and promote the social, physical, and intellectual growth of at-risk students. The BAC Drill Instructor instructs at-risk students in military and leadership activities to promote at-risk student skills and knowledge of subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, responsible men and women. The Drill instructor assists teachers with classroom control and at-risk student discipline and directs and participates in calisthenics and/or physical training.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administration regulations, and state and local board policy.
Assists with planning, preparing and developing various instructional materials and activities while considering factors such as individual needs, abilities, learning levels, and physical limitations of cadets/at-risk students.
Helps manage behavior of at-risk students and helps with classroom control and at-risk student discipline. This includes intervening in crisis situations and restraining disruptive or dangerous at-risk student behavior as needed.
Escorts cadets/at-risk students to classroom.
Directs and participates in calisthenics and/or physical training.
Encourages cadets/at-risk students to exceed standards.
Provides accurate assessment of cadet/at-risk student performance.
Coaches cadets on ways to improve.
Arranges and adjusts tools, work aids, and equipment used by at-risk students in the classroom such as specially equipped worktables, computers, typewriters, and mechanized page turners.
Assists with the presentation of subject matter to at-risk students, individually or in groups using a variety of methods and techniques to develop motor skills and conducts instructional exercises.
Assists at-risk students with physical disabilities according to their needs, and personnel hygiene.
Assists in maintaining a neat and orderly learning environment.
Keeps the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual at-risk students.
Participates in special events as assigned.
Provides orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties.
Maintains confidentiality.
Maintains a high level of ethical behavior as is expected of all District employees.
Maintains professional growth by attending in-services and meetings as requested/ required.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Principal.
