Brownson Country Club located in the heart of Shelton, CT is a vibrant member focused private club featuring a picturesque golf course, a welcoming clubhouse, and a popular pool and cabana facility. As the club continues to grow and enhance its offerings, we are
seeking an energetic, organized and service driven Assistant general Manager to help elevate the member experience and support daily operations.
Position Overview
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is a key leadership role responsible for daily operational success and high service standards of the Club. The AGM acts as the General Manager’s deputy, with primary oversight of food and beverage operation and the efficient operation of the clubhouse amenities.
Responsibilities
• Support the General Manager in overseeing day to day club operations, ensuring an exceptional and cohesive member experience across all departments • Work collaboratively with department heads- including golf, pool and food and beverage to maintain high-quality service standards.
• Assist in executing and enforcing club policies, procedures and operational standards
• Build a strong relationship with members by understanding their needs, addressing concerns, and contributing to a welcoming community-oriented atmosphere • Help coordinate and oversee member events, tournaments, pool activities, and social functions to foster engagement and enjoyment
• Support over site of facility maintenance, including clubhouse, pool and cabana areas, ensuring all amenities meet club standards for quality and appearance • Lead train and motivate staff across departments to uphold professionalism, team work and member first service
Candidate Qualifications
• Experience: A minimum of 3 years of progressive managerial experience in the hospitality environment. Private club experience is preferred. A strong background in Food and Beverage is required.
• Service Orientation: A proactive, detail-oriented, and service- focused approach with a dedication to maintaining high standards. Develop and manage a high level of training program.
• Leadership: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse team toward consistent service excellence. Proven ability to work with a management team.
• Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication (written and verbal), diplomacy, and interpersonal skills for interacting with members, guests, and staff at all levels.
• Financial Acumen: Understanding of fiscal control and reporting
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with Club management software (Northstar System preferred) Microsoft Office Suite
• Work Schedule Requirements: Must understand the industries required work schedule, including extended hours, evenings, weekends and holidays.
