What are the responsibilities and job description for the Excavation Laborer/Operator position at Brownscape?
Brownscape is looking for an Excavation Operator/Laborer to join our team
We are currently seeking to fill this position for temporary winter work now, and full time work in the Spring of 2026.
The Operator/Laborer is responsible for various jobs including by not limited to: excavation laboring, installation, maintenance, and repair of various excavation work, trenches, conduit, hardscape landscape, etc. Assisting foreman as needed. Most jobs will be in Loon Lake/Chewelah area, and anywhere from North Spokane to Kettle Falls, WA.
Requirements
- Ability to work in all outdoor conditions.
- Physical work - must be able to use various tools, digging, hammering, plate compacting, shoveling, etc.
- Proven experience operating excavators along with other heavy machinery such as mini excavators, skidsteers, dozers, or horizontal drilling rigs
- Must be willing and able to assist with maintenance of machines and trucks, and help out as needed in other aspects of the company.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of construction equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work on a variety of machines and use tools that may require frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing.
- Must be able to work in a variety of temperatures and environments.
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks including lifting heavy objects and working in outdoor environments for extended periods
- Construction site experience demonstrating familiarity with safety standards and operational procedures
- Must be able to work overtime as needed.
- Must be able to travel to various job sites.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Mini Excavator and Skidsteer Experience required.
- CDL drivers license useful
- Boring equipment operation a plus
Responsibilities:
- Digging, trenching, foundation digs, installing material, conduit, etc.
- Excavation services and assisting excavator if not in machine.
- Hardscape/Landscape installation work.
- This job is a physically demanding job. Must be able to physically perform job duties needed on each jobsite.
- Perform light maintenance on equipment, greasing machines, etc.
- Assist with other jobsite duties such as needed per job, each job is different.
