Role Description
This is a full-time role based in our manufacturing plant in Spirit Lake, Iowa. The Purchasing & Inventory Manager will oversee the procurement of materials and supplies, manage inventory levels, and negotiate contracts with suppliers. This role involves analyzing inventory data to ensure operational efficiency, monitoring purchase orders, and collaborating with various departments to support production needs. The manager will also be responsible for maintaining compliance with organizational and industry standards.
Representative Duties
1. Manage shipping and receiving logistics, including domestic and international freight.
2. Develop specifications and sources, obtain quotations, negotiate pricing, prepare and place purchase orders, expedite orders and evaluate cost/quality for purchased items.
3. Make timely purchasing transactions that achieve company quality, schedule, cost and strategic objectives.
4. Work with internal management and suppliers to continually reduce costs, improve material quality, reduce lead times, develop alternate sources and reduce inventory levels.
5. Monitor and analyze demand data and lead-times to determine optimal safety stock, inventory levels, order dates and order quantities.
6. Analyze supplier performance, conduct audits and implement corrective actions to resolve shortages, deliveries, and other problems.
7. Manage the purchasing function to comply with ISO certification requirements.
8. Input and maintain bills of material and purchasing data.
9. Manage inventory including usage, data input, accuracy, and inventory adjustments.
10. Coordinate activities with and communicate materials availability with Manufacturing and Sales.
11. Comply with all Brownmed policies and guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
12. Report to the Vice President of Manufacturing.
Qualifications
- 5 years experience in managing Purchase Orders and Inventory Control processes, preferably in the Healthcare Industry
- Expertise in Inventory Management, including monitoring and optimizing stock levels
- Strong Contract Negotiation skills for working with suppliers and vendors
- Proven Analytical Skills to interpret data and forecast inventory needs effectively
- Proficiency in relevant procurement and inventory management software
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards, CE and QSR compliance practices is a plus
- Bachelor's degree required with BA in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred
- Able to work independently with a high level of initiative.
