Position Overview
Brownlee Lumber Company, Inc. is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Maintenance Technician with a strong saw filing focus to join our first shift. In this dual-role position, you will lead our saw maintenance, sharpening, and repair operations while also supporting mechanical maintenance across the plant, including diagnostics, preventative upkeep, and equipment installations.
Key Responsibilities
Saw Filing and Saw Shop Focus
Maintain, inspect, and sharpen band saws to maximize precision and efficiency.
Perform saw changes, alignments, and tensioning according to manufacturer and operational standards.
Track saw performance, tooth wear, and blade health, making proactive adjustments and repairs.
Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the saw filing area.
Collaborate with machine operators and supervisors to troubleshoot saw-related issues and enhance cutting performance.
Maintain accurate records of saw usage, sharpening schedules, and inventory.
General Maintenance and Mechanical Duties
Participate in capital projects, including equipment installations and upgrades.
Conduct preventative maintenance per PM schedules to minimize downtime and optimize system performance.
Diagnose and repair mechanical issues in manufacturing equipment and heavy machinery.
Perform maintenance on light-to-heavy trucks and trailers as needed.
Work in coordination with vendors and fellow team members to maintain smooth operations.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and take part in cross-training opportunities.
Qualifications
Proven saw filing experience in a sawmill or similar wood products setting.
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools, with a strong foundation in welding, cutting, and fabrication.
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and repair equipment.
Physical capability to lift and carry 50 lbs and to work in varying environmental conditions.
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime when necessary.
