Brown Technologies is currently seeking a Senior Software Developer who is a self-starter supporting the U.S. Southern Command.
DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Developer with deep expertise in JavaScript-based data visualization, event modeling, and relationship modeling. The ideal candidate will be an innovative technologist who can independently design, develop, and deploy complex applications that transform mission data into intuitive visual products. This role requires strong front-end engineering skills, early-adopter mindset, and the ability to support DoD and interagency missions with advanced software solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design & Development
Use JavaScript applications following industry-standard design patterns, development methodologies, and deployment models.
Solve and articulate complex problems through thoughtful application architecture, product design, and user experience development.
Build visualization software enabling non-developer users to understand mission data through event and relationship modeling.
Software Engineering & Collaboration
Develop software used by operational users, analysts, and mission partners with varying levels of technical expertise.
Collaborate closely with other developers, engineers, and technical teams to ensure alignment and progress toward shared goals.
Leverage peer insights to understand technology adoption patterns, industry trends, and emerging technologies.
Continuous Innovation
Innovate with modern JavaScript frameworks, libraries, and supporting languages to evolve product capabilities.
Stay current on complementary programming languages, UI/UX design methodologies, modern development practices, and new database tools.
Support the integration of AI/ML capabilities where relevant to mission applications.
Geospatial & Database Integration
Apply working knowledge of Esri ArcGIS Enterprise systems within data visualization or analytic applications.
Integrate and manage complex datasets across multiple database environments, including graph, relational, and search-based systems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Education & Experience
Master’s degree or minimum 11 years of experience supporting DoD and/or interagency organizations.
Demonstrated experience in:
Early adoption of emerging technologies
Understanding modern software ecosystems
Working with cross-functional technology and mission teams
Technical Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or 5 years of front-end development experience.
Fluency with:
JavaScript
HTML5
CSS3
Node.js
AI/ML integration principles
Experience with:
Python
Grunt
Node
AngularJS
ArangoDB
SQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL
RDBMS architectures
Working knowledge of the following databases:
Elastic
Dgraph
ArangoDB
SQL Server
PostgreSQL
Preferred:
Experience developing mission-facing visualization tools for operational or analytic users.
Ability to translate complex data into accessible, interactive tools.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
