Title Analyst — Oil & Gas

Brown Resource Group
Columbus, OH Contractor
POSTED ON 5/22/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/15/2026
About Brown Resource Group

Brown Resource Group (BRG) is an oil & gas development, land, and title firm. We support upstream operators and mineral owners with the title, land, and curative work that keeps projects moving and revenue flowing correctly. We are intentionally small and senior; the work we do has real dollars and real ownership rights attached to it, and we treat it that way.

About the Role

We are hiring a mid-level Title Analyst to take ownership of the title and ownership analysis work for an active oil & gas client. This is a hands-on, fully remote position reporting to BRG's President of Operations.

You will be the person responsible for making sure ownership ties out, NRI math is clean, Enertia records are accurate, and curative issues are surfaced before they become problems downstream. You will work directly with our project managers, the client's land and division order teams, and outside title attorneys as needed.

If you enjoy solving ownership puzzles, can hold a decimal to eight places without flinching, and want to work somewhere that respects the craft of title work, this is a strong fit.

What You Will Do
  • Read and interpret abstracts of title, run sheets, mineral ownership reports, and Certified Title Opinions (CTOs) to determine surface, mineral, and leasehold ownership.
  • Build, audit, and reconcile Net Revenue Interest (NRI) and Working Interest (WI) decks for wells, units, and tracts. Verify that all burdens (royalties, ORRIs, NPRIs) tie correctly back to source documents.
  • Set up and maintain leases, tracts, contracts, ownership, and division order data in Enertia. Run ownership roll-ups and acreage/expiration reporting as needed.
  • Prepare and review division order title work and NRI reports for client distribution.
  • Identify title defects, gaps in the chain of title, and curative requirements. Draft curative recommendations and coordinate resolution with landmen, attorneys, and clients.
  • Cross-check legal descriptions, recorded instruments, and lease provisions against client records to catch discrepancies before they hit pay status.
  • Maintain clean, auditable documentation for every ownership determination.
  • Communicate findings clearly to internal team members, client land and division order staff, and outside counsel.
What We Are Looking For

Required:

  • 3–7 years of oil & gas title analyst, division order analyst, or lease analyst experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and work independently from abstracts, title opinions (including CTOs), and run sheets.
  • Strong working knowledge of NRI/WI math, burdens, pooling, and unit allocation.
  • Hands-on Enertia experience — specifically the Land, Contracts, and/or Division Order modules.
  • Comfortable interpreting legal descriptions (metes and bounds, PLSS, lot/block).
  • Excellent attention to detail and the discipline to maintain it across long projects.
  • Self-directed and able to manage a workload remotely without daily oversight.

Preferred:

  • Experience working title across multiple states; Appalachia experience especially valuable.
  • Familiarity with curative drafting — affidavits of heirship, stipulations of interest, correction instruments, and similar.
  • Experience working both operated and non-operated interests.
  • Familiarity with outside title attorney workflows.
  • AAPL membership or RL/RPL/CPL designation.
Why Work With Us
  • Fully remote position with flexible hours focused on output, not seat time.
  • Direct access to senior leadership, no layers between you and decision-makers.
  • Varied, interesting title work across active projects.
  • A small team where title is treated as a craft.
  • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience.
