Job Summary:
Brown & Read Engineering is seeking experienced Journeymen Plumbers / Pipefitters as well as motivated Plumber Apprentices to support residential and commercial projects throughout the Reno/Sparks area. Whether you’re a seasoned journeyman or early in your trade career, this role offers hands-on work, professional development, and long-term growth within a collaborative mechanical contracting team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining piping systems across various projects, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and industry codes.
Journeyman Plumber / Pipefitter Responsibilities:
- Install and repair water, waste, vent, gas, and hydronic piping systems.
- Set fixtures and equipment including water heaters, boilers, and pumps.
- Read blueprints, troubleshoot issues, and ensure code compliance.
- Assist with training and supervising Apprentices when needed.
Plumber Apprentice Responsibilities:
- Assist with installations and repairs.
- Learn tools, materials, and trade skills under experienced supervision.
- Follow safety procedures and participate in apprenticeship training.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Adhere to all plumbing safety codes, building regulations, and environmental standards.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, time spent, parts used, and service outcomes. Stay informed on the latest plumbing technologies and best practices.
Work Environment:
You will work in a wide range of environments, including:
- Residential homes
- Office buildings
- Schools and universities
- Hospitals and healthcare facilities
- Industrial and manufacturing plants
- Work may take place indoors or outdoors, in tight crawl spaces, attics, or on rooftops.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures is common.
Qualifications (varies by level):
- Journeyman: 3 years experience, Journeyman Card, OSHA 10/30.
- Apprentice: Interest in the trade and willingness to learn.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to pipe sizing and layout planning.
- Strong safety awareness with the ability to identify potential hazards on job sites; construction site experience is highly desirable.
Pay: $20.00 - $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
