Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit dental insurance claims accurately using current coding standards
- Review patient records and treatment documentation to ensure proper coding and billing compliance
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, working closely with insurance companies and patients to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain detailed and organized medical records, including documentation of procedures, diagnoses, and billing history within our patient management software
- Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility prior to service delivery to facilitate smooth billing processes.
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure accurate recording of procedures and treatment plans in the billing system.
- Stay updated on changes in coding standards, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations affecting dental billing practices.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of dental coding preferred
- Proficiency in billing processes, including claim submission, follow-up, appeals, and collections
- Experience working with patient management systems used in dental or healthcare settings for managing patient records and billing information
- Understanding of medical terminology related to dentistry and healthcare documentation.
- Ability to interpret insurance policies, benefits verification, and coordination of benefits for accurate billing.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with insurance providers, patients, and internal teams.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple accounts and deadlines efficiently.
Pay: $24.51 - $29.52 per hour
