What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tax Associate or Senior Tax Associate position at Brown Graham?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Prepares individual, business, and other types of tax returns for clients.
• Performs tax preparation at client’s offices while audits are taking place.
• Performs research activities as tax issues arise.
• Performs special tax projects for clients as needed.
• Update asset depreciation schedules for clients.
• Assists others with software troubleshooting issues.
• Performs other accounting and tax related duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
• Occasional out-of-town client visits driving personal or company-owned vehicle.
• May work more than 55 hours per week during peak times.
POTENTIAL ADDITIONAL DUTIES
• Communicates with clients, IRS, and other business professionals, as needed.
• Coordinates various activities to meet client needs within a specified timeframe.
• Assists with training/mentoring employees in the tax department.
• Applies work procedures and tailors plan to the individual client.
• Maintains awareness of general business trends and laws
• Participates in business development.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred. Combination of past experiences and other education will be considered.
• Experience in tax accounting preferred.
• Valid Certified Public Accountant license or working toward obtaining CPA license preferred.
• Knowledge of tax accounting principles and IRS regulations.
• Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) in a professional manner when dealing with clients and employees.
• Appropriate interpersonal skills and ability to develop good rapport with employees and clients.
• Ability to multitask on various projects
• Competent computer skills to perform essential duties listed above
• Prompt and dependable attendance.
