Solutions Architect 4

The Solutions Architect 4 serves as the principal architect for large-scale, highly complex technology solutions involving hardware, software, databases, networking, telecommunications, security, and enterprise applications. This position determines Laboratory-wide requirements and translates them into effective technical solutions using commercial-off-the-shelf platforms, including Oracle Primavera P6, Oracle Project Integration Framework (PIF), and Oracle WebLogic, as well as internally developed software and hardware.

This individual provides technical leadership and architectural direction for complex, multidisciplinary systems and projects. The Solutions Architect 4 works with significant independence, applies expert judgment, and develops creative solutions to unique or unusually complex technical challenges. Responsibilities may also include managing projects from initial concept through implementation, including documentation, budgeting, scheduling, resource planning, user training, and benefits realization.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead complex technology projects requiring detailed analysis, customer requirements gathering, and coordination across multiple technical disciplines.
• Design and architect solutions involving hardware, software development, databases, systems programming, cybersecurity, networking, and telecommunications.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural direction for complex enterprise systems.
• Research and evaluate emerging technologies, industry practices, and regulatory changes.
• Recommend practical, scalable solutions to complex technical and operational challenges.
• Incorporate strategic and long-term business objectives into system and solution designs.
• Manage projects from inception through implementation, including planning, documentation, scheduling, resource utilization, and training.
• Support the integration of project controls functions, including estimating, scheduling, and cost management.
• Develop advanced technical concepts, standards, methods, and best practices.
• Communicate technical solutions effectively to customers, stakeholders, system administrators, and end users.
• Maintain compliance with all applicable safety, security, policy, training, and procedural requirements.
• Promote a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.

The selected individual must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or another relevant field and at least 12 years of directly related experience.
• An equivalent combination of relevant education and professional experience may be considered.
• Expert-level experience designing and implementing complex enterprise technology solutions.
• Expert knowledge of current and emerging technologies related to networking, data management, cybersecurity, hardware, software development, systems programming, and enterprise web application delivery.
• Expert knowledge of SQL Server and Oracle relational database management systems, including implementation, administration, maintenance, and end-user support.
• Expert-level knowledge of Oracle Project Integration Framework (PIF).
• Strong knowledge of Oracle WebLogic and enterprise web applications.
• Strong knowledge of Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management and Primavera P6.
• Experience maintaining technical environments that integrate project controls functions, including estimating, scheduling, and cost management.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex, multidisciplinary technology projects.
• Demonstrated ability to gather customer requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
• Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated experience building and leading teams of technical professionals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and determine the appropriate course of action with minimal supervision.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Post-graduate coursework in a relevant technical or business discipline.
• Relevant professional certifications in enterprise architecture, project management, Oracle technologies, databases, networking, or cybersecurity.
• Previous experience supporting a national laboratory, Department of Energy facility, or another highly regulated federal environment.
