Cheese Specialist
Brown Derby Wine Center & Marketplace Cheese Department is hiring a cheese specialist! Individuals passionate about cheese and interacting with people are encouraged to apply. We are looing for candidates that enjoy working in a team environment and learning about cheese from around the world. This is a highly interactive position so willingness to work with customers is a must!
This is an opportunity to work with a highly knowledgeable staff and learn about cheese from around the world as well as local artisans.
Full Time/Part-time
35-40 hours a week/16-24 hours a week
The requirements and skills needed for this position:
- Welcoming and greeting our guests as they approach the cheese counter
- Cutting, slicing, baking, and packaging products.
- Cutting & arranging cheese boards for events & parties.
- Stocking the cheese counter and maintaining our exceptional displays.
- Treat customers and co-workers with respect.
- Keeps workspace neat and clean.
- Positive response to direction and request for assistance from co-workers, supervisors, managers and guests.
- Takes initiative to help in any area of the Marketplace if possible.
- Never stops learning about and promoting cheese as well as all of the great foods we sell.
Qualifications
The success patterns for this position are:
- Experience working in customer service, retail and/or the food service/hospitality industry preferred.
- Experience and a willingness to work with specialty foods (i.e. cheese, wines, meats, vinegars/oils a plus
- Experience selling in a retail environment preferred
- Has a reputation for giving great service to guests & co-workers
- Can handle multiple tasks at one time
- Proper usage of kitchen equipment
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Is able to work independently or as a member of a team
- Communicate professionally in person and on the phone
- Self-motivated and enjoys learning
