Job Title: Head Coach

Position Type: Athletics/Activities/Coaching

Location: Brown County High School

The Head Coach is responsible for organizing and supervising a total sports program.

Responsibilities:

1. Develops and implements a comprehensive coaching philosophy, emphasizing good sportsmanship, good mental health, and character development in student athletes.
2. Maintains knowledge of technical aspects of the sport and stays updated on new theories and procedures.
3. Serves as a role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.
4. Advises, coordinates, and supports staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches.
5. Instructs athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success.
6. Upgrades knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.

Administrative Duties:

1. Assists the athletic director in scheduling, transportation, and requirements for tournaments and special sport events.
2. Coordinates program with maintenance and school employees.
3. Provides documentation to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility.
4. Provides proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites.
5. Recommends policy, method, or procedural changes to the athletic director.

Student Responsibilities:

1. Serves as a mentor to each athlete to promote the development and demonstration of character traits.
2. Provides assistance, guidance, and safeguards for each participant at practices, games, and while traveling.
3. Initiates programs and policies concerning injuries, medical attention, and emergencies.
4. Completes paperwork on disabling athletic injuries and submits to the athletic office within 24 hours.
5. DIRECTS STUDENT MANAGERS, ASSISTANTS, AND STATISTICIANS.
