Job Title: Head Coach
Position Type: Athletics/Activities/Coaching
Location: Brown County High School
The Head Coach is responsible for organizing and supervising a total sports program.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements a comprehensive coaching philosophy, emphasizing good sportsmanship, good mental health, and character development in student athletes.
- Maintains knowledge of technical aspects of the sport and stays updated on new theories and procedures.
- Serves as a role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.
- Advises, coordinates, and supports staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches.
- Instructs athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success.
- Upgrades knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.
Administrative Duties:
- Assists the athletic director in scheduling, transportation, and requirements for tournaments and special sport events.
- Coordinates program with maintenance and school employees.
- Provides documentation to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility.
- Provides proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites.
- Recommends policy, method, or procedural changes to the athletic director.
Student Responsibilities:
- Serves as a mentor to each athlete to promote the development and demonstration of character traits.
- Provides assistance, guidance, and safeguards for each participant at practices, games, and while traveling.
- Initiates programs and policies concerning injuries, medical attention, and emergencies.
- Completes paperwork on disabling athletic injuries and submits to the athletic office within 24 hours.
- DIRECTS STUDENT MANAGERS, ASSISTANTS, AND STATISTICIANS.
