What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal position at Brown Carrington?
We're Hiring: Paralegal (a.k.a. The Calm in Our Legal Storm) Covington, KY (In Person) |
Full-Time | $50K | Benefits & Banter Included
About Us
We’re a family law firm—but not the kind that just files papers and checks boxes. With offices in
Covington, Louisville, Lexington, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Atlanta, Denver and Palm
Beach, we represent clients in some of the highest-stakes, highest-conflict family law
matters in the country. This work isn’t for the faint of heart—but if you’ve got empathy, grit, and
precision in equal measure, you’ll thrive here.
Our attorneys have decades of experience. Our clients come from every walk of life. And our
mission is simple: be the steady hand in a deeply human moment.
About You
You’re detail-obsessed, people-savvy, and calm under pressure. You’ve filed pleadings, drafted
things that actually made sense, and you know family law isn’t just about forms—it’s about
families. You’re the kind of person who fixes problems before they happen, doesn’t blink at a
100-page financial disclosure, and somehow remembers where everything is—even when no
one else does.
You’re not just looking for a job. You’re looking to join a mission. (Also: a team that laughs,
works hard, and occasionally brings donuts.)
Minimum Requirements:
Let’s be real—we know “requirements” can sound intimidating. We’re not looking for perfect.
We’re looking for solid.
● 1 year of full-time work experience (law firm preferred, but we like fast learners)
● Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or something similar (you know what we
mean)
● Familiarity with family law pleadings and court procedures
● Drafting chops (especially pleadings—we like those clean and persuasive)
● Detail orientation (aka: you catch the typo before the judge does)
● Client service experience (bonus points if you’ve handled a panicked phone call with
grace)
● Experience billing time (yes, we track it… and yes, we actually read the entries)
What You’ll Be Doing:
● Prepping and filing court documents (we’re paper-smart, not paper-heavy)
● Organizing evidence for trial (think binders and brilliance)
● Supporting attorneys and fellow paralegals (we believe in having each other’s backs)
● Managing client files and communications (some days you're the MVP of peacekeeping)
● Helping track down overdue invoices (nicely, but firmly—like your best Midwestern aunt)
Why This Role Matters
In family law, clients don’t just need expertise—they need reassurance. They need to know
someone’s in their corner, every step of the way. That’s where you come in.
You’ll be the one turning complexity into clarity. The one keeping the wheels turning and the
stress down. The one who makes our attorneys look like they slept, even if they didn’t.
Why You'll Love It Here
Yes, it’s fast-paced. Yes, expectations are high. But so is the support. We care about client
satisfaction, but we care about team satisfaction too. We laugh. We learn. We grow. And we
take our work seriously—not ourselves.
Benefits include:
● From $50,000/year
● Medical, dental, and vision insurance
● Unlimited PTO
● 401k Plan
● Sick time (because life happens)
To Apply:
Send us your resume, and feel free to include a short note. Tell us who you are, why this work
matters to you, or even your favorite legal TV character (we won’t judge... unless it’s someone
from Suits).
Must be able to commute or relocate to Covington, KY 41011 before starting.
- Work Location: In person | Schedule: 8-hour shift
